Unsolved Case: Lizzie Borden

The Bordens L izzie Andrew Borden was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on the 19 th of July 1860. The Borden family was composed of four people: Andrew Borden, head of the household, his second wife Abby Durfee Gray and Andrew’s two daughters, Emma and Lizzie, who were born from his first marriage. Emma and Lizzie’s biological mother Sarah. A. Morse died on the 26 th of March 1863, and not being able to get over her premature departure it was hard for them to accept their stepmother Abby in the family, especially Lizzie. The Borden's house Lizzie’s father was a very wealthy man but, in spite of that, he was extremely greedy. His greed was such that he decided to cut unnecessary spending such as running water, which he considered useless. He owned a bank, as well as farms and plots of land. In order to save as much money as possible he sold his carriage and his horse leaving his stable almost empty; the only thing left in it were pigeons that were partly stolen

Introduction to criminology

T he word criminology derives from the Latin word crīmen, which means "accusation", however crīmen derives from the Ancient Greek verb "κρίνω", and -λογία, from "logos" that means “word”, “reason”. T he term criminology, originally criminologia, was coined by Italian law professor, Raffaele Garofalo, in 1885. Garofalo was a criminologist and a jurist. He was very keen on foreign legal literature, especially German one and joined the fascist movement agreeing on the elimination of those who struggled with mental conditions. Criminology deals with a very wide range of subjects. It treats the scientific study of the nature, extent, management, causes, control, consequences, and prevention of any kind of criminal behaviour.
